A Christmas Wishlist

Posted in Uncategorized on November 30th, 2008 by djurek – Be the first to comment

In lieu of of what would be normal content and visionary or politically charged posts about the state of the human condition, I have elected to write a Christmas wishlist. It seems logical to have such a list in a place where those curious about gifts for me can look. With this great power comes responsibility and I reserve the right to amend the list at any time (thereby delegating the responsibility to the reader).

I will make two wish lists: one of the things I actually want for Christmas and the other to express political views as seems to be the moral duty of all bloggers. You, the reader, must determine which is which.

Update: I’ve added a few material items to the second list, hopefully this gives ideas.

List 1

  • Peace on Earth
  • Goodwill toward men (and women)
  • Everyone on the planet to smile at the same time for 10 seconds (including those sleeping)
  • Change

List 2

Cycling – I like to bike to work

  • Fingerless riding gloves suited for road riding (size: small)
  • Handlebar tape
  • Reflective leg bands to keep pant legs out of the chain

Photography – The AE-1 is still kicking

I still like my Canon AE-1 and take plenty of pictures. I currently have a standard 50mm and 70-210mm zoom macro. I’m looking to expand my selection of lenses for the rainy, urban Seattle ecosystem.

  • Telephoto lens
  • Wide angle lens
  • Fisheye

Books

Outside of a dog, it’s man’s best friend. Though I spend most of my time sitting before a computer screen, the tactile nature of dead trees and ink always wins my admiration. Speculative fiction is a favorite along with design.

Miscellaneous

  • Starbucks gift card – I’ve given in. I buy stuff from Starbucks.
  • Best Buy gift card – Just the bare necessities.

Hello World!

Starting a blog is easy. Done.

I would normally use this space to outline objectives and deliverables, maybe make some bulleted lists, and generally define expectations. But given my most recent free-form approach to life and the understanding that those things are boring, I would prefer to leave these expectations open-ended. If my blog serves any purpose, it is to entertain rather than inform, confuse rather than clarify, and use parallel structuring whenever possible. I enjoy irony more than most, and dabble in obscure references.

On this most auspicious 5th of November (my server is in the wrong time zone, please ignore the go live date), I would like to remind my readers that artists use lies to tell the truth. That is all.

Leave comments, and as always: Have Fun!
